Sunni Anne Ball ...not only is Sunni an extremely talented artist but comes to us originally from the world of Wakeboarding where she was a Professional Wakeboarder.
I started when I was 10 in Muskoka, (Cottage Country), Ontario. I started competing when I was 12, winning Junior Worlds at 17 and 18. When I decided to go to University at Dalhousie in Halifax, I was still competing while in school, winning the World Cup in Moscow, Russia which got me invited on the World Cup Tour. At this point I was competing against people who trained all year round while I was stuck up in a frozen campus in Eastern Canada not riding 8 months of the year. I realized it was time for one or the other, so I dropped out of school. For two years I traveled all over the world on 4 different tours. The World Cup Tour took me to France, China, Singapore, Russia and Qatar. The USA took me all over the states and the Canadian Tour took me across Canada. In the off season I would move to Australia to do the Australian/New Zealand Tour. Winning Wake Games (Equivalent to the X-Games) was the last highlight of my career in 2007. I retired from wakeboarding in March of 2008 while living in Australia. I suffered from many chronic injuries and burn out at this point and made the tough decision to move on. This gave me more time to enjoy my art.

Karlene Bland ...loved to doodle and sketch as a child. She took home the art prize every year in school. Her teachers would often enlist her help to make illustrated charts for the next day's lessons.
Karlene's artistic progress stopped temporarily as emphasis was soon placed in the sciences and math through high school. It did not occur to her to pursue art as a life career. She went on to accounting and business administration instead.
Art crept back into Karlene's life after she dabbled in some evening tole painting classes during mom's nights out. This grew into a business repainting furniture and doing other custom painting, like murals for clients.
Painting trips to Tuscany and Provence with her daughter in 2009 and 2010 introduced her to the world of plein air painting and a journey of new learning in fine art began. Since then she has self-directed her artistic progress through reading and taking workshops with various prominent teachers. She is a member of the Clarkson Society of Artists.
Karlene now loves to create paintings that bring a smile or evoke memories of special encounters or delightful moments. She tries to capture that magical light and moment in nature when you happen to look up from your cares and busy lives. To memorialize that beauty for all to enjoy.
